Gear up for PaddlePalooza! II

PaddlePalooza! II is set for Friday, April 22 ("Earth Day!") and Saturday, April 23 at the same location as last year: The Ohio Expo Center's Lausche Building on the state fairgrounds in Columbus. Ohio's first "silent sports" expo brings together the people,products and places that make "paddling, packing and pedaling" three of the most popular activities among active outdoors enthusiasts of all ages -- not only here in the Buckeye State but coast to coast!
Guests attending PaddlePalooza! II will see the latest kayaks, canoes, bikes, backpacking and camping gear and receive expert instruction on how to select the best equipment -- be it boat, bike or backpack -- for their outdoor adventures. Paddlers considering buying a new watercraft can even test the latest canoes and kayaks atop a huge indoor pool, a watery venue that is also used by certified instructors to demonstrate paddling skills and techniques.
Workshops will run nonstop in the three seminar rooms: "Pedal," "Paddle," & "Pack" for more in-depth instruction on everything from how to select and tune a mountain bike, purchase the proper tent, or rig a kayak for fishing here in Ohio. Check out this year's seminar schedule! Click for schedule
 Exhibits from ODNR's Divisions of Watercraft and Ohio State Parks will again be on hand with information and opportunities for taking advantage of their personnel, publications and natural resources. The Division of Watercraft will establish a satellite watercraft registration station to allow guests to register and renew their boats on site. Independent retailers from across the region will feature kayaks, canoes, bikes, tents and accessories for sale. Kayak and canoe liveries will be on hand, as well as pedaling, paddling and camping clubs and organizations, and representatives of travel destinations that are popular with Ohio outdoors enthusiasts.
A NEW feature at this year's PaddlePalooza! is a used gear swap meet and sale from 9 AM-noon on Saturday. The three-hour "porch sale" is free to individuals who have kayaks, paddles, backpacks, bikes, tents, sleeping bags, fishing tackle and related gear that they want to sell or swap with fellow outdoors enthusiasts. Just bring your gear and we'll provide space on the covered front porch of the Lausche Building for your to peddle your excess paddle, pedal and backpacking accessories among the guests attending PaddlePalooza! II.
Admission to PaddlePalooza! is $10 per adult, and is valid for both days. Children age 12 and under are admitted for free. Discount admission coupons now available at Clintonville Outfitters, Outdoor Source and Mad River Outfitters.
